Intermediate Classes

Our intermediate track dancers will be broken into crews and rotated through classes and activities. Five hours on Saturday and three hours on Sunday. Here are descriptions for the Sunday classes. Saturday classes are a surprise!

Sunday Classes

Stacia and Anthony

1:00 - Solo Jazz - More than doing applejacks in the corner, we'll help you get in touch with your inner jazz spirit.  Stretching recommended, jazz leotard optional (unless you want to match Anthony, then it is required)

2:10 - Dancing to Soul Music - We're havin' a party.... dancin' to the music.... Played by the DJ.... on the radio.... If you can't name the song we're singing you really should come learn more about soul music and dancing to it in this class....

3:20 - Steals - A class on the art of stealing.  Not the way Stacia does at the Mall of America, the way you can on the dance floor!  Learn how to participate in a steal dance in an effective, considerate, and fun manner!

Samantha and Alex

1:00 - Dancing - this class will work on technical skills by breaking your brain. We’re going to switch up familiar shapes and patterns with drills that are almost recognizable in order to break apart your muscle memory.

2:10 - Dancing with your Partner - drills and games to help you connect with your partner to foster two-way communication. Leaders will be gaining a stronger ability to listen and followers will be empowered to contribute to the partnership.

3:20 - Dancing with you Partner to Music - music gives meaning to the dance moves and gives the dance a story. It gives followers another means to have a voice and it moves the focal point to the music which both partners can interact with. This class will give you a few ideas on how to interact with the music and your partner.

Beginner Class

That's right! We have a beginner class this year! Five hours of class on Saturday to break in your dancing shoes and learn how to lindy!

Laurel and Kasey

10:30 -  Lindy Hop Fundamentals Part 1—Getting in rhythm, connecting with our partners, and moving across the floor like a bona fide swing dancer

11:40 - Lindy Hop Fundamentals Part 2—The Swing Out. Because everybody's doing it!

1:40 - Connection Clinic—Yeah, but what does it mean to follow or lead? Using the basics to understand and experiment with momentum and partnership

2:50 - Dance Dialogue—Add to your dance vocabulary and create your own with playful ways to listen and respond to your partner. Now with even more Jazz!

4:00 - Special Project - It wouldn't be special if we told you beforehand.....
